LEARNERSHIPS AND APPRENTICESHIPS:
A learnership is a work-based learning programme that leads to an NQF registered qualification. Learnerships are directly related to an occupation or field of work, for example, electrical engineering or project management. Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) manage learnerships.
Apprenticeships are offered to Electrical, Mechanical Fitters with a Minimum educational qualifications are:
- Gr 10 with Mathematics and Science
BURSARIES:
NOT PLANNING ON FURTHER STUDIES?
In 2017, Duferco awarded bursaries for the first time in history to children of our employees and unemployed youth from the local community.
Bursary applications are only received after an advertisement has been placed in the local newsletter, explaining the requirements for applicants along with the necessary documentation and deadlines for submission.
Applications will always need to be accompanied by a matric certificate and a provisional acceptance letter into a government or registered tertiary institution – so ensure you have this in place if you consider applying for a bursary in future.
DSP offers a MERSETA approved Production Technology Learnership Programme (NQF level 2) which runs over 12 months.
Minimum educational qualification are; Grade 12 with Maths, Physical Science
The Learnership does not guarantee employment at DSP, but we currently have a 90% intake of students.
Further internal career development in the Production Department is done once appointed and possible positions include:
